VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The BNJRT volunteer program requires every family to earn 4 volunteer credits per family.  This program has been quite successful and due to everyone's participation we are able to keep our team fees as low as they are.  Because BNJRT is an entirely volunteer run club, we rely on all of the families to participate in the volunteer program.  If participation were to drop off, we would have to hire a program director to do all of the things that you all are helping to do!

At registration, every family must sign up for the 4 credit volunteer hours. Those families who do not either sign up for the 4 credits or fulfill the four credit requirement will be invoiced a $300 volunteer fee.  We need you as volunteers!  Please contact Colm Sweeney at colm.sweeney@noaa.gov with any questions or ideas regarding how you would like to volunteer.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT:

Parent involvement from each skier’s family is essential to the team’s success and longevity. Families are encouraged to have fun walking or skiing out on the race courses to cheer team members. Parents are also encouraged to ski with the team on weekends. Skiers usually stay and eat together as a team at races, except for younger skiers who may prefer to stay with their parents. Families are always welcomed and encouraged to stay at the same lodging and to join the team at meals.

BNJRT is a parent-run organization. Team management responsibilities are shared among parents of team members. It is expected that each family will fulfill their volunteer requirements. A Board of Directors oversees team administration, approves budget, spending, hiring, and transportation. Parent volunteer responsibilities include, but are not limited to: team coordination/communication, coordinating transportation, van maintenance, travel (lodging and food), race registration, race day organization, uniforms, membership, recruiting, treasurer, equipment purchasing and maintenance, grocery coupons/e-scrip, fundraising, corporate sponsorship, coach hiring, Boulder Nordic Club liaison, Boulder Nordic Club Expo Ski Swap coordinator, ski-a-thon coordinator, Thank yous, photo/video historian, web master, and newsletter production and distribution. BNJRT needs parent members to find a “job” that suits their interests and abilities and work to make our team successful. Mentoring with an established parent member is recommended, and can be coordinated by request.
